In June 2017, NASPSPA celebrated its 50th Anniversary and the meeting was held at the Catamaran Resort in San Diego. The meeting had its regular scientific program, but many sessions also had a historical flair.
One of the 50th Anniversary projects we pursued was to interview past NASPSPA Distinguished Scholars, which is the highest honor NASPSPA can bestow on a member. The Distinguished Scholar designation is to to recognize outstanding long-term contributions in the research areas represented within NASPSPA. It is only awarded to senior scholars are are typically at least 25 years beyond the doctorate and who have a distinguished record of scholarship.
The goal of the interviews is for the NASPSPA community, and in particular our young professionals, to benefit from the wisdom imparted, as well as to provide a historical overview of NASPSPA. The interviews were primarily conducted by Penny McCullagh, former NASPSPA President. Questions were developed with the advice of some former NASPSPA Distinguished Scholars. Below is a list of all the NASPSPA Distinguished Scholars and the interviews that have been conducted thus far.
Per the NASPSPA Policy Manual, former NASPSPA members and contributors who have passed away may be memorialized in the newsletter and on our website. If anyone hears of a NASPSPA-related contributor passing, please send this information to the NASPSPA Executive Director and they will communicate this with the President-Elect and/or Past-President Liaison.
